STEEL IS REAL
Cycling has been my passion since I was 8 years old. The riders, their equipment and the ambiance. Magnificent! My dream was to build a frame myself and to develop this frame into a well-known and esteemed brand. At the age of 16, I decided that I would try and make this dream come true – the Duell brand was founded and 30 years later I can say that I have never regretted one second that I founded Duell. I only believe in the very best quality and I exclusively work with light weight steel. Steel has never let anybody down!
Nowadays by using TIG welding even more accurate customized frames can be built. While in the past the angles of the lugs pretty much defined the frame, we are now able to build any desired frame model. The fact that a steel frame weighs 500g more than a carbon one is not important. There are many advantages: stiffness, reliability, comfort and longevity. For example: by using electronic alignment the wheels of the bikes can be truly placed ‘in line’ and makes a Duell perfect to ride. You can ride downhill at a speed exceeding 100 km. an hour and still feel absolutely secure. For good reason, Ducati, the famous motor bike brand, builds its frames of the same steel alloy as I do.

WHY A DUELL ?
Craftsmanship
Duell uses the latest welding techniques and tools in combination with the state-of-the-art customized tubes of the Italian supplier Dedacciai. This way Duell is able to build frames that are accurate to within a millimetre.

Thin walls and still stiff
Very consistent and homogeneous alloys make it possible to achieve a very thin wall thickness, at certain points the thickness is only 0.4 mm! In combination with various oversized tube forms for specific parts of the frame, a reliable light and stiff frame is created.

TIG-welding creates more possibilities
Duell applies TIG-welding for tubing, allowing a tube form to be joined with the neighbouring tube and any angle option between the various tubes is possible. This technique allows the tubes to be precisely aligned and to create as it were one completely new unity, which cannot be achieved with welded frames.

UNIQUE FEATURES
Steel is strong and rigid by nature, but lightweight steel is definitely a competitor of other present-day frame materials and should not be undervalued. It still offers unique riding qualities, which are not to be found in aluminium or carbon, such as stiffness without losing flex, resonance damping but far from weak. And you will experience that you have full control of your bike even when riding downhill at a speed of 100 km an hour.
Steel provides unlimited custom-made possibilities in addition to longevity.
